Long short days

Jess S

Ahh British wintertime… with the sun rising at 8:00 and setting at 16:30, days are short and nights are long! More so when you have a little one and the weather is shocking. Perhaps you’re one of the following:

  • In the throes of eternal nights of feeding through

OR

  • Reminiscing about late afternoon park trips with your toddler and subtly clock watching until their bedtime

OR

  • You’re pregnant, not fully enjoying/ attending social gatherings and time is dragging onnnn.

It can be so hard to keep up the momentum, to not wish for the dark days to pass, to stay present and upbeat.

Connection is key in these moments. Real connection with people who know YOU! Wrap up and get out for an evening if that’s doable or get a friend over for a DIY takeout.

Curate evenings that give excuses for cosy activities: phone chats with old friends; escapist reads, watches or listens; warm your senses with candles, hot drinks and soft blankets.

Sure, it’s not life changing but there’s a lot to be gained from the little things.

Be poised to seize upon a crisp and sunny day for that vitamin D hit, wellies ready to get out in the rain and be kind to yourself when you’re just not feeling it (which might be a lot).

And if you’re a mum-to-be or have a fresh newborn in your arms – reach out to MAYA because connection is what we’re all about (plus we’d love to join you for a walk come rain or shine!)
